Canon Capture stills or movies in stunning detail with the Canon EOS 550D. The mightily impressive 18 megapixel CMOS sensor is ideal if you wish to create large, poster size prints or crop images without losing any of the necessary detail for printing. The sensor is also outstanding in low light, and produces images with very low ‘noise’. The 550D also offers the ability to shoot Full HD 1080p video. You can also shoot high speed 50/60fps movies at 720P for when the action is really fast. Connect the EOS 550D via HMDI cable (sold separately) to your compatible TV, and you’ll enjoy reviewing your footage or images in glorious high definition. The high performance DIGIC IV processor and CMOS sensor combine for optimum results in a range of lighting conditions. Images can be recorded simultaneously in both RAW and JPEG formats for greater post-shooting flexibility, while PictBridge compatibility allows quick, quality prints direct from camera to printer. A High precision, 9-point wide-area auto focus points provides fast, accurate focusing, even with off-centre subjects. When light levels fall or in dimly lit rooms, the EOS 550D offers an ISO range of up to 6400 – expandable to 12800 for those environments where using flash is undesirable. A maxiumum 3.7 fps is in offer for capturing fast moving subjects. You can make detailed checks of your images and video on the 7.7cm (3-inch) LCD screen and switch to Live View mode to use shoot from awkward angles. There’s also a dedicated button that provides access to commonly used functions, ensuring that you are ready to take the shot as it happens. The 550D represents total digital freedom with access to over 60 EF lenses, including the wide angle EF-S range. Feeling creative? One of the biggest advantages of SLR digital cameras is the sheer shooting flexibility they offer. You can use various additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots, to shoot a wide variety of subjects. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture.
